    Learn to Swim Levels

    Beginners: 3 – 5 years of age

    Who cannot swim at all and need to be taught from the start. We recommend two lessons a week of 30 min. After three months they should be able to swim 5 – 7 meters on their own and understand what it is to be safe in the water.

    Early Strokes: 5 – 10 years of age

    Children who are now safe are taught to master the 4 FINA strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breastroke and Butterfly.

    Intermediate Strokes: 5 – 10 years of age

    These classes focus on stroke development and drills. Groups are between 4- 6 kids per session. The swim school focuses on technique only. Children must learn style before speed to develop fluidity of stroke before mastering speed. Emphasis is still on fun and learning through play we recommend two lessons a week of 30 min each.

    Advanced Strokes: 9 – 12 years of age

    Once style has been established speed drills are brought into play to master gala competitions. This is still stroke focused but more drills are practiced. Children must know their strokes. Tumble turns and different racing dives are taught.  Children are encouraged to attend 3 x 30 min sessions in a week in preparation for school galas.

    Level one: 9 – 15 years of age

    This is for swimmers who have been chosen to swim at school galas and who are more focused on swimming as a sport, but do not want to take part in the CGA levels. Swimmers must be keen and dedicated and have the stamina to train for two sessions at least in the week of 1 hour. Ages in this group are from 9 – 15 years of age. Our school trains the swimmers at their level either for open water dam swims or for entry and to qualify for school galas.
